On Sunday, a friendly cricket match was organised.

“In this gloomy atmosphere when businesses are plummeting and industries are witnessing layoffs, it is very important to remain positive. Recreation will help one achieve that. It is like a therapeutic refreshment of the body and soul and it also helps to build trust between employers and workers,” said members of Lodhika GIDC located on Kalawad Road.

Its president Kishor Kadvani said, “Industry is like a family. It is very important that all stay positive and fit.” The events are not without prizes for the winners.

Apart from sports, there will also be cultural programmes and even a cleanliness drive. The idea is to face the challenges of business and economy together. So, various committees have been formed to manage the events with members from a total 90 companies. A host of events have been planned for the current year.

It may be a time of crisis but unit owners have come forward with donations to ensure the smooth functioning of committees and their events. The big units like Jyoti CNC and Balaji Wafers have offered their playgrounds to organise the events.

Meanwhile, cricket, volleyball and badminton coaches have been invited to impart training to the employees. The Lodhika GIDC Association has so far received 1,000 entry forms for cricket, 200 for volleyball and 100 for badminton.
