Shoaib who was in devastating form, struck seven fours and eight sixes and was involved in an unbeaten 101 runs partnership off 32 balls for the sixth wicket with skipper Abey Kuruvilla (38). This enabled D Y Patil put on 242 for 5 on the board. Parkophene could reply with 194 giving D Y Patil a 48 runs win.
D Y Patil were given an early blow by Parkophene when Vinod Raghavan dismissed Subramaniam via Hiken Shah but Maharashtra batsman Yogesh Takawale dashed Parkophene’s hopes by hammering 73 runs off just 25 balls with 10 sixes and a four. Parkophene came back into the match with Nishit Shetty dismissing Solomon and Takawale and Musavir Khote bowling Anup Rewankar to leave D Y Patil at 94 for 4 wickets.
Shoaib who had come in at the fall of Takawale’s wicket steadied the ship with a 47 runs association for the fifth wicket with Rohit Rane.
For Parkophene Amit Velaskar smashed 72 off 34 balls with seven sixes and five fours and put on 79 runs with Hiken Shah (23) for the second wicket.
Shivaji Park helped by Gaurav Jathar, Siddhesh Lad and Chirag Kolge bundled out New Hind for 140 runs in 16.5 overs. Only Rohit Rudra, the left handed opener with 71 put up worthwhile resistance for New Hind.
The two teams take on each other in the semis on Friday.
