Students at Mad Arts try out ‘claymation’

Creating colouful and exiting new characters out of clay, providing these characters with a wired support and then animating them using film making techniques the animation students of Mad Arts, comedian Jaspal Bhatti’s film school, finished a four-day workshop on ‘Clay animation or Claymation’ at the school premises here today.

The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Harjit Singh, a noted national and international director and Param Shiva, an independent filmmaker, whose work in clay animation is being currently shown on Nickelodeon channel and an under Production work for MTV.

During the four-day workshop, the students were taught character design, making armatures for stop animation, facial expression, body movement, set design and the film making process. Concluding the workshop, the school CEO Savita Bhatti said the workshop was an initiative of the school to introduce their students to the latest trends of filmmaking and animation.

The school offers intensive courses in acting, direction, editing, camera and lighting, radio jockeying and animation. Soon, the school would be organising a similar workshop in clay animation to benefit animation students of this region, added Savita.
