CAB treasurer Subir Ganguly told The Indian Express this evening that the Knight Riders will play all their home matches at the Eden Gardens as scheduled, and the franchisee has decided against taking matches away from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). “There’s no confusion anymore over the venue, Eden will host all the seven home matches. There’s no question of Cuttack or Bangladesh hosting our matches,” the CAB treasurer told this daily.
Over the last few months, while the Jagmohan Dalmiya-led CAB administration had been at loggerheads with Shah Rukh Khan’s franchisee over a payment wrangle, the KKR owners were mulling over the idea of shifting two of Eden’s seven IPL matches to the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. KKR co-owners Jai Mehta had even taken a recce of the Barabati Stadium a couple of months back. Two days back, there were fresh fears of Eden losing a few IPL matches this summer after Juhi Chawla told mediapersons that the franchisee is looking at Bangladesh as a potential catchment area.
The second edition of the IPL meet gets underway on April 10.
