Education Dept finds two teachers with fake degrees

Chandigarh, February 8 The UT Education Department has reportedly recovered fake educational degrees from two government schoolteachers.

The teachers involved in the case are Pafna, the Social Studies teacher at Government Model Senior Secondary school, Karsan and Sukhjinder Pal Kaur, JBT teacher at Government Girls High School, Sector 25.

The department had obtained these degrees during checks to ascertain the genuineness of the teachers’ educational degrees.

Officials claimed that as per records, Pafna had completed B Ed from Maithali University, Darbhanga bearing roll no. 239 in 1984. Sources said that the said university has been declared a fake university as per the UGC circular.

Meanwhile, Sukhjinder Pal Kaur, JBT teacher at GGHS-25 had completed her JBT degree from Gandhi Hindi Vidhyapith, Allahabad. The UGC circular had also mentioned the Hindi Vidyapeeth as a fake University.

The Director Public Instructions (Schools), S K Setia has directed both teachers to prove that their educational degrees are genuine.

The UT education Department had handled a similar case recently when Amar Singh, a Mathematics lecturer at GMSSS, 22 was found in possession of a fake degree. He was dissmissed from the school.
