Ludhiana “Education should not be the prerogative of only the chosen few; it should be for the masses as well as the classes,” said Jasbir Singh, the programme director of St Stephen’s School, while addressing a press meet on Thursday.

Singh announced that classes XI and XII in the medical, non-medical and commerce stream, will start in the school from the coming session.

The school has also decided to introduce the British Board, Edexcel, for the classes. The main objective behind introducing a foreign board is to familiarise students with international education and help them develop a global mindset, said Singh.

Highlighting the features of the programme, Singh said: “We conduct examinations bi-annually which give students the flexibility of taking the test when he feels he is prepared. Moreover, a student can improve upon his score till he achieves his desired marks as the board also gives the provision of re-appearing,” said Singh.

Principal of the school, Harold Carver, emphasised upon how the board stresses on practical orientation. “The main premise on which the board operates is practical training for students.” said Carver.

The course fee is Rs 12,500 per month and students will also be provided with a laptop, said Singh. He added that though the school had already started a crash course to train teachers for the new board, most of the classes will be conducted online.
