Pune In a tie-up with Eton House, Edvance Group launched its first pre-school Vivera International today at Kalyani Nagar. The group has said that it plans to launch 1,000 such pre-schools, most of them in partnership with others, across the country in the next seven years.

Although, the group chairperson Arun Arora has declined to reveal the investment that will be required in creating the chain, he said that the slowdown was a big opportunity to begin such ventures. “It is a good time to get reasonably priced properties and good talent to begin such ventures,” Arora said.

Arora said that there was a huge demand for schools at the pre-school segment and shrugged off the high fee structure. The school is expected to charge over Rs 1.2 lakh annually for pre-schoolers. Arora said that the group might come out with a different brand/ price range in future.

The group is also looking at expanding into other segments. “We are also interested at entry level professional training programmes and the online education segment,” said Anshul Arora, Group CEO.

Earlier, Narendra Jadhav, vice chancellor of Pune University who was the chief guest said that the spirit of inquisitiveness and creativity in schools should be encouraged. Even now, those who ask questions in class are considered as trouble makers. It effectively suppressed the inquisitiveness of the child, he said.
