“Initially, we will introduce several five-year integrated MA programmes. All these integrated courses can be pursued after class 12,” said Prof Abhai Maurya, EFLU vice-chancellor here on Tuesday.
The EFLU was given the status of a central university in August 2007.
Highlighting the specialty of the integrated programmes, the V-C pointed out that these programmes are flexible in nature.
“If a student does not want to complete the entire five-year programme, he or she can easily leave the programme after three-year. In this case BA (Hons) degree will be provided to the student,” he added.
The university is planning to introduce the new programmes in a phased manner.
“We have asked the state government to provide us about 100 acres of land for the Lucknow campus. We will not mind if the land is provided to us on the outskirts of the city,” Maurya said.
The university plans to offer free education to students coming from economically weaker section. Physically challenged students will also be entitled for the zero-fee facility.
At present, EFLU has about 100 students on its Lucknow campus who are pursuing post-graduate courses in English, diploma-programmes in French, German etc.
