Following the raids, eight people were arrested under the provisions of the Copyright Act. The raids were conducted with the help of a private investigation agency working to implement the intellectual property laws in association with the city police in Maninagar, Bapunagar, Vastrapur, Ashram Road, Navrangpura and Gujarat University areas.
The arrested have been identified as Bhavesh Patel, Nikunj Shah and Himanshu Jaiswal of Sai Technology; Dharmendra Trivedi and Ajay Prasad of Hubglobal Technology; Vijay Chhabra of ERP Consulting; Yogesh Patel of New Horizons Computer Learning Center and Rambihari Tripathi of Hugemony.
Gujarat University police inspector B M Rajapara said the accused were using the pirated version of an educational programme of a private firm without their prior consent.
