Eight MCD officials held for corruption

New Delhi The Anti-Corruption Branch of the Delhi government has arrested 12 officials, including eight from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, on charges of bribery, corruption and forgery.

“We have arrested 12 officials in the last four days in different cases,” ACP Dilip Kumar, who heads the department, said. “They were arrested for embezzling official funds.” Among the MCD officials arrested include executive engineers Satish Kataria and Harpal Singh, assistant engineers S C Jain, Tara Chand, and Chandan Singh, and junior engineers Jagbir Singh, Om Singh and S R Meena.

Jagbir was arrested for allowing illegal constructions in Karol Bagh in Central Delhi, while the others were held in a case of muster roll scam in the MCD. Jagbir is in judicial custody, while the others have been granted anticipatory bails.
