Engineering student commits suicide

Chandigarh, February 3 A Third year engineering student of Indo-Global Engineering College, Mullanpur, Onam Bansal (21) committed suicide by hanging self at her residence in Sector 10. Onam’s father Ashok Kumar Bansal is the general manager, IT Corporation, Punjab.

Police came to know about the incident at 12 noon. According to Station House Officer Sector-3 police station Inspector Ramgopal, “She hung herself with her dupatta in her room. Her mother, who is a housewife, saw her hanging from the ceiling.”

Onam’s father told the police that he was not on talking terms with his daughter because he was upset over her demands of increasing pocket money and not paying enough attention towards her studies.
