On Republic Day, the course was inaugurated by Pimpri-Chinchwad Deputy Mayor Sharad Borhade in presence of corporator Vasant Londhe, Patrakar Sangh chief Nandkumar Saturdekar, civic activist Hemant Nahata and senior citizen Daji Shelkhe.

Speaking on the occasion, Borhade said,"English was the need of the hour. Without knowing the language, it is difficult to go around the world. When I went on a civic tour to a foreign land, I realised how English is the language in most of the cities." Endorsing the views, Londhe too said if students had to face the increasingly competitive world, they cannot do away with English. "English is a must language spoken by millions across the world," he said. Saturdekar said the course will help Marathi journalists' aspiring to change over to English journalism. He said the course fee is nominal compared to what is charged by private institutes.

Activists Munir Ramdurg, Shrikant Jadhav, Raju Jawalkar, Gulam Ali Bhaldar, Rajendra Shelke, Balu Shivsharan, Sunil Marale, Rohit Nahata, Dushyant Nahata, journalists Vinod Pawar, Manoj More and Hrishikesh Tapshalkar were also present, added the press release.

Devendra Shah elected
Devendra Shah has been elected chairman of Sharad Bank, Manchar. Bank director Datta Thorat had recommended Shah's name for this post.
