Junagadh The transfer of a police inspector from the Junagadh ‘B’ division police station saw a strange protest rally on Friday. Around a dozen eunuchs along with members of various organisations staged a rally and submitted a memorandum to the resident deputy collector opposing the transfer of Inspector S N Mehta.

Since the last one week, some organisations and individuals have been demanding the cancellation of the transfer order. They have been demanding that Inspector Mehta’s posting is not transferred outside Junagadh.

Some 500 people took part in the rally under the banner of the Lok-Suraksha Dal on Friday evening, said Milan Joshi, the Dal’s office bearer.

He said: “When we were planning the rally, a group of eunuch met us and expressed their willingness to join us in the protest. They took part in the rally on Friday.”

The participation by eunuchs in the rally did evoke mixed reactions from the crowd. A witness said, passers-by could be heard commenting: “Now there is no man in Junagadh, forcing the eunuchs to take the stage.”
