Evidence held up as witnesses absent

Patiala, January 3 The evidence against Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi in a human trafficking case was held up today as one of the key witnesses in the case as well as the complainant was not present in the court.

Taking up the case, the court of Judicial Magistrate (Ist Class) PS Rai sought the evidence of complainant and key witness Bakshish Singh, who was not present.

His counsel presented the exemption application and the judge granted the same. The judge also granted exemption from appearance for today to one of the accused Bulbul Mehta, who had also sought exemption from today’s hearing. The case is at the stage of recording evidence against Mehndi, against whom the court has already framed the charges of cheating, fraud and conspiracy in a human trafficking case.
