Exam pressure makes 2 students commit suicide

Junagadh The Gujarat state board examinations are scheduled to start from March 17 this year and the exam pressure has already taken lives of two students.

The two, due to appear for the HSC (Class XII) board exams, committed suicide in Junagadh on Thursday, mentioning their inability to cope up with the exam pressure as the reason for taking the extreme step.

Bandish Gajipara (17), a student of Eklavya Public School jumped to death from the eighth floor of the Sidhdhivinayak Apartment building, located on the Zanzarada Road. The incident occurred around 7.30 pm.

Bandish, who was the only son of Bharat Gajipara, a senior advocate and former president of the Junagadh district panchayat, died on the spot.

A three-page suicide note was recovered from his pocket in which he stated stress and depression as the reason behind his act.

In another incident, Mital Barad (17) committed suicide by hanging herself at her house on Thursday noon.

She was a student of Bharad School and belonged to Vadnagar village in the Kodinar taluka. She was also a science student.

In her suicide note, Mital said she was committing suicide because of the poor marks she had scored in the preliminary examinations. People close to Mital said she had been under depression for the last many days. The suicide incidents have sent shockwaves within the academic circles here.
