The centre, under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, for the second consecutive year is organising a two-week summer camp for students, who have just given their 10th and 12th board examinations, from April 20.
The camp will not only have practical sessions in gliding but also experts taking classes on aviation and young students in the field interacting with them. Insights into aero modeling and paragliding adventure flying also will be given.
According to Captain Shailesh Charbhe, instructor in-charge, students who are keen on taking it up as a career option also would benefit, as the camp would also emphasis on that aspect. “Not many people know that there exists a gliding centre in Pune. This is a part of the many activities the centre does to reach out to people. The response was good last time,” he said. Ace aviator and industrialist Vijaypat Singhania will be interacting with the students in one of the sessions.
The camp will admit 40-45 students, which will be done on first-come, first serve basis and there will be no fee charged.
