Kolkata The skeleton case that has sent former CPM minister Sushanta Ghosh behind bars, has also led to a bitter war of words between two former party MPs.

Abdulla Kutty, the two-time CPM MP from Kunoor in Kerala who had to leave the party following his praise for Gujarat CM Narendra Modi, has alleged a Marxist “pogrom” against Opposition in both Kerala and West Bengal. At a seminar of MLAs held last week in Hyderabad he even went on to say that former CPM MP from Arambagh, Anil Basu, told him about how the Left Front leaders in Bengal used to get rid of the members of the opposition parties. Later speaking to The Indian Express, Kutty said: “We used to have tea at the Parliament canteen and there Basu told us what they did with the Trinamool Congress supporters. He used to say that after killing them, the bodies used to be disposed of scientifically, by burying them deep into the soil.”

Kutty, who is now a Congress MLA, said: “In Kunoor itself, the CPM has killed 145 Opposition supporters that included members of RSS in the last 25 years. CPM is a ruthless party.”

Meanwhile, Anil Basu has refuted Kutty's claims. “He (Kutty) has become insane. He is too junior to me to come and sit with me for such frank addas. I am a seven-time MP and he is a two-time one. He is saying all this to malign me,” Basu told The Indian Express.

Leader of the Opposition in Bengal Assembly, Surya Kanta Mishra, also criticised Kutty. “What he said is all rubbish. It has no basis.''
