Washington Hospital Center is the largest private hospital in the nation's capital. Its cardiac catheterisation laboratory is one of the busiest in the country. A total of 19,054 cardiac catheterisations were performed in 2006. As many as 1,803 open-heart surgeries and six heart transplants performed in 2006. "The Sadhu Vaswani Mission's Medical Complex – Heart Institute was commissioned in June 2006 as Dada J P Vaswani's dream to have a temple of healing hearts turned to reality. The hospital bears witness to Dada's ideal: every patient is a picture of God; to serve him is to worship God.
