Washington Hospital Center is the largest private hospital in the nation's capital. Its cardiac catheterisation laboratory is one of the busiest in the country. A total of 19,054 cardiac catheterisations were performed in 2006. As many as 1,803 open-heart surgeries and six heart transplants performed in 2006.
