Chandigarh In a meeting after having taken over as the new mayor of the Municipal Corporation, Kamlesh set her agenda rolling as she asked officials to examine the reasons for the inadequacy of available contractors.

Kamlesh’s directives are significant, as the issue of slow pace of work in various wards has often been a bone of contention between officials and councillors.

While the councillors claim that the work in their wards are not completed on time, officials are of the opinion that there is a limit to the work that can be executed in a year.

During the House Meet held in December, the councillors had demanded that instead of slowing the pace of work, more contractors should be hired. The officials responded by saying that not many contractors were available.

The development of community parking at various places in the city also forms part of the new mayor’s agenda. While the proposal for the first community parking to come up at Burail had been passed during former mayor Pardeep Chhabra’s tenure, more such parking lots are expected to be developed.

The mayor also expressed her intentions to focus on the development of parks and green belts in various sectors.

While laying stress on e-governance, Kamlesh assured that the projects would be completed within the stipulated time period.
