Express lensman donates photos to PGI eye-centre

Chandigarh, January 5 The regional photo editor of The Indian Express, Chandigarh, Swadesh Talwar, donated his choicest collection of photographs to the advanced eye centre at the PGI on Saturday.

The photo gallery, where Talwar’s photographs depicting the beautiful landscapes of Ladakh has been displayed, is supported by the State Bank of India and was inaugurated jointly by Dr Juginder Luthra and Dr Omi Gupta.

DR Luthra, an alumnus of the PGI, and Dr Gupta also donated generously for developmental work at the department. While Dr Luthra along with his wife Dr Sucheta Luthra has helped setting up a library at the department, which has six hi-speed computers, Dr Shubh and Omi Gupta have contributed for the doctor’s lounge at the centre.

Talking to Newsline, Dr Luthra recalled, “Teaching at the PGI was of the highest standard when we were students and it has been maintained till now. The department has moved from a single wing department to a technologically advanced centre.” Dr Omi Gupta recalled her association with the PGI as a patient and said she was touched by the high standards of treatment offered at the institute.
