What’s on your iPod?
Soundtracks of The Godfather, In the Mood for Love, Babel, Rocky, Guru Dutt’s Pyaasa and Kaagaz Ke Phool, Rang De Basanti, Indian Ocean’s Black Friday. Old Hindi songs by Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, U2, Metallica, Rabbi Shergill.

What’s your DVD pick?
Lots of films from all over the world — The Godfather, Raging Bull, Pyaasa, Raise The Red Lantern, To Live, Do Bigha Zameen, Bicycle Thief and many more.

Your favourite romantic scene in a movie?
It’s from Wong Kar Wai’s In the Mood For Love, when the man, played by Tony Leung, and the woman, played by Maggie Cheung, pass each other at night in the staircase of a restaurant. Though this moment is silent, yet it evokes a passionate romantic longing, which is accentuated by a visually stunning slow motion shot and a great background score.

Which actress you would love to go on a date with and why?
If I were single, I’d have loved to meet Catherine Zeta Jones — she has the timeless quality of elegance.

Which dialogue have you mouthed in front of the mirror the most?
Of late, the only dialogues that have been on my lips are from The Godfather and Raging Bull since I have been working on a book based on these two films.

Who inspired you to become an actor?
Nobody inspired me, destiny made me one. But Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Naseeruddin Shah, Marlon Brando and many others inspire me.

The worst film you ever watched?
Can’t single out any in particular but all the senseless stuff that people churn out in the garb of commercial cinema.

Which film you wish you could be a part of?
The Bicycle Thief, Do Bigha Zameen, Raging Bull, The Godfather, Ikiru, Salaam Bombay et al.

What makes you an actor?
My ability, passion and drive to give it my all and leave no stone unturned to portray the character truthfully, naturally and effortlessly.

Quiz: From which film is this line: Kisika vishwas jitna buhut asaan hain, ussay todna usse zyada assan hain. Lekin mushkil hain usse nibhana.
Mann. (Correct answer)
