Kolkata “I tried my best to cope up with the situation and appeared for the examination. I appeared for all the papers, but could not succeed,” said Lolita Tudu, daughter of former PCAPA president Lalmohan Tudu. Lolita’s father had been killed by the CRPF on February 22, a day before the examinations began.

Even though the CRPF claimed that Tudu was killed in an ‘encounter’, activists claimed he was shot dead while he was on way to meet his daughter before her exams.

PCAPA spokesperson Asit Mahato said: “Lalmohan Tudu was innocent, but the CRPF killed him brutally in a fake encounter. He was very poor, but he made his daughter study as he wanted to see her educated. But, his dreams were shattered due to the atrocities of the joint forces.”

Lalmohan Tudu was killed near his residence in Narcha village near Katapahari in West Midnapore.

“Lolita is not in a condition to continue with her studies. We will try to support her financially if she wants to study. But, she wants to joint the movement that her father had led,” added Mahato.

Cops start helpline for results
The West Bengal Police have started a helpline for students to check their Madhyamik results. “Students can call up the police station and provide their roll numbers. We will check the results and inform them,” said West DGP Bhupinder Singh, adding the police department will also provide scholarships to meritorious students.
