Fake liquor factory busted, two arrested

Pune, February 8 The Crime Branch of Pune police on Thursday busted a factory making “fake liquor” in Mauje Khanwadi in Purandar taluka .

Two persons identified as Anil Sadashiv Shinde (32) of Urali Kanchan and Rohidas Sadashiv Memane (27) of Purandar have been arrested. The duo were transporting fake liquor in a Maruti Van when they were nabbed in Kondhwa by a police team comprising of inspector Tulsidas Mahajan, assistant sub inspector Gautam More, hawaldar Sikander Tariyawale, Ismail Shaikh, Rajendra Surve, Dhulaji Kolpe, Rajesh Sonawne, Suresndra Kulkarni, Anil Kulkarni, Avinash Kadam, Shailesh Jagtap and Namdev Bhosale.

As many as 399 bottles of whiskey, 273 bottles of rum costing Rs 33,600 and cash of Rs 11.230 were recovered from the accused. During the raid, seven cans of chemical, fake stickers, empty bottles and sealing machine were found at the factory. The accused were packing the liquor in empty bottles with fake stickers in the name of branded companies like Bagpiper and MaDowell No 1. They were booked under various sections of Indian Trademark Act and Indian Penal Code. Searches are on for nabbing their accomplices.
