Mumbai, February 13 A flying squad of the Western Railway recently busted a fake ticket scam by detecting a small number of people travelling with fake season tickets.

Travelling Ticket Examiner (Flying Squad) Sanjay Sharma detected a passenger with a fake season ticket on Train No 9115 Sayaji Nagri, on February 2. A passenger, Jayprakash B Arekar, was detected travelling with a fake second class quarterly season ticket issued from Goregaon, for travel between Dahanu Road and Churchgate stations.

A Western Railway source said: “The season ticket was without a Western Railway logo and the font of the printed ticket was different from the usual season ticket. The passenger was interrogated and could not give a satisfactory reply.” On further enquiry, it was revealed that no such season ticket had been issued from the Goregaon booking office.

The passenger disclosed that he had purchased the season ticket from a tout named Jitendra at Goregaon (West).

A First Information Report was lodged by Sharma with the Government Railway Police at Borivali.

According to sources, a ticket roll of season tickets was stolen and supplied by an employee of the printing press and the fake season ticket was arranged by the man named Jitendra on his computer, with software arranged by his colleagues. Four persons involved in the above case were arrested by the GRP.
