Father, son robbed of gold worth Rs 30 lakh

Mumbai A father-son duo were looted of 2.2 kg of gold worth around Rs 30 lakh at Powai on Tuesday afternoon. According to the victims, four armed men overtook their car, threatened them and decamped with the booty. The Powai police have registered a case of robbery and are preparing sketches of the accused.

According to Police Inspector Ashok Pardhi of Powai police station, Malad residents, Dharmender Kawadiya and his father Suresh, were travelling in their car when they were attacked. “The complainants make gold ornaments and sell it to jewellers. On Tuesday, they were travelling via NTPC quarters route after making deliveries at Hiranandani, Govandi and Vashi. Suddenly another car overtook and obstructed them. Three men with a revolver, a chopper and an iron road stepped out of the car and approached the father-son duo. They broke the window panes of the car and snatched the bag conaining 2.2 kg of gold worth Rs 29.7 lakh and cash to the tune of Rs 20,000. After this, they fled the spot. They even snatched their car keys to prevent the jewellers from chasing them,” said Ashok Pardhi.

Soon after the incident, the victims approached the Powai police and filed a complaint of robbery.
