Nawanshahr Alleging step-motherly treatment by alliance partner Shiromani Akali Dal, district BJP leaders have decided to meet Dr Daljeet Singh Cheema, SAD nominee from Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha constituency, who is also the political adviser to CM Parkash Singh Badal, to discuss the matter. The meeting is expected to take place during Cheema’s visit to Nawanshahr on January 29.

This was decided by the BJP leaders in a meeting held here today under the leadership of district BJP chief Sudesh Sharma. Varinder Kaur Thandi, state president, BJP Mahila Morcha, was also present at the meeting. “We are taken into consideration during the elections and after the polls are over, our concerns are conveniently forgotten,” alleged the workers.

They said the posts of chairmen of the District Planning Committee, Zila Parishad, Improvement Trust and Market Committee are all with the SAD, which shows the lack of respect towards the BJP. Even in the Family Counselling Centre, which is being run under the aegis of the District Red Cross Society, the Congress has more say than the BJP, they added.

“This attitude has to change or it will have far-reaching impact on the alliance’s future,” said a party worker.
