Fighting off robbers, factory guard killed

New Delhi, March 7 A security guard was stabbed to death by unidentified assailants when he tried to stop them from robbing a factory in Model Town, northwest district police said.

According to police, the victim, Sonu Sharma, 23, was was posted at the A-51 factory on GT Karnal Road just four days back.

“Sharma was sleeping at the entry gate when he woke up to a loud noise inside the factory. He raised an alarm after seeing a group of men collecting electroplated products,” a senior police official said.

Police said that in the fight that ensued, Sharma was stabbed several times with a sharp edged weapon. His patrolling stick had blood on it, police said.

The owner of the factory, Virender Kakkar, who stays with his relative at Chandrawal Nagar in Mukherjee Nagar, is a native of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

Kakkar has been informed about the incident, police said.
