As many as 537 cases of attempt-to-murder were registered in the year 2007, while there were 4,262 cases of hurt registered by the Haryana police. According to Dalal, the Haryana police achieved significant success in curbing the heinous crime against women. “Women have been provided safer and more secure environment. The entire women police force was posted at police stations and they were asked to visit the allotted villages, slums, colonies of poor people and interact intensively with women folk. The state police have begun a new exercise of community policing in the districts. Senior citizens are also being given more protection’’, said the DGP.
