Lucknow, March 3 Following complaints from various schools that teachers are not taking up their invigilation duties, District Inspector of Schools Ganesh Kumar on Monday announced that FIRs will be lodged against schools, which are not relieving their teachers for the duty.

FIRs will also be registered against those teachers who do not join duty on the first day of the board examination on March 4.

Of the 46.5 lakh students appearing in the Uttar Pradesh Board examination, around 99,442 students will appear for exams in centres across Lucknow. About 5,500 teachers have been assigned invigilators jobs in these centres. What has created panic among examination centre superintendents is that over 70 per cent invigilators have yet to report at their respective examination centre. The invigilators are supposed to report at the exam centre a day before the exam.

Kumar has asked the superintendents to forward the names of the teachers who will be found absent at the examination centres on Tuesday, along with the names of the principals who were not relieving their teachers.

“There might be some exceptions, but if a majority of teachers from one college are not reporting at another, FIRs will be lodged against teachers or principals, whoever is found guilty,” he said.

Consider this: At the Balika Vidya Niketan Inter College, which will have over 800 students appearing on the first day in 13 rooms, only seven invigilators have registered till date.

The principal of the Nari Shiksha Niketan has refused to let go off a majority of teachers unless teachers from other schools join duty at the Niketan centre. Similar was the situation at the Arya Kanya Vidhyalay and Gurunanak Girls Inter College.

The teachers too have raised their own set of problems.

“There has been no verification of the invigilators, no one has checked their appointment letters or attendance records before assigning duty. As a result, schools have conveniently exchanged their teachers to suit their means,” said RP Mishra, association leader.

To this, Ganesh said that it was difficult to check records of all schools.

“Thus the lists made by school principals have been accepted and the department will look into the matter if there are complaints. If any school is found guilty of exchanging teachers for the purpose cheating, FIRs will be immediately lodged against the manager of such schools.”
