New Delhi The branch office of the State Bank of India in Ghaziabad saw high drama on Saturday when a scuffle between lawyers and bank guard led to firing.

An eyewitness said a lawyer wanted to enter the bank after working hours, but the guard refused to let him in. The enraged lawyer, who works at a Ghaziabad court, argued with him and left. However, he returned with some men, apparently his colleagues at court, to teach the guard a lesson for his ‘insolence’.

“He (the lawyer) went to the court and returned with four friends,” Anant Dev, SP (city), Ghaziabad, said.

As a scuffle broke out at the bank’s gate, the employees inside heard a gunshot. Bank manager Jeet Singh said he rushed out and saw the lawyer and few men beating the guard. In the melee, few gunshots were fired from the guard’s rifle which hit the roof.

The branch is near the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Ghaziabad. “We have registered an FIR against unknown miscreants at the Kavi Nagar police station,” Dev said.
