First ever MSIHMCT alumni meet

Pune Former students of the Maharashtra State Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (formely known as Food Craft Institute) will come together for their first ever alumni meet.

The 1996 batch is in the forefront of arranging this alumni meet on January 10 at the institute campus at Model Colony. Around 500 students are expected to join the gathering . This was announced at a a press Conference by MSIHMCT principal Ranjana Kayerkar. The Alumni Organizing Committee consists of former students who have earned a name for themselves in their respective fields like renowned dance choreographer Sandeep Soparkar, Marathi actress Smita Gondkar and celebrity corporate chef Nilesh Limaye.

The alumni meet will be chaired by Sanee Awsarmmel,MD S5 Group of companies and founder Chairman Panchsheel Foundation About 400 are expected to attend the function. There will also be a special performance from Sandeep Soparkar and troop.

Speaking on the occasion Vrunda Ganguli said, "I had the privilege of being the principal of MSIHMCT for more than 25 years right from when the college came to Pune . This alumni meet was long due and I am happy that my students have come forward for such an initiative . This college has motivated the students to be entrepreneurs , enhancing their skillsets . .It has given meritorious students the Hospitality industry including travel and tourism industry, aviation, cruise, armed forces and the entertainment industry as also other service oriented industries .

Sanee Awsarmmel, chairman Alumni Committee, said that this is the college which not only decided our careers but shaped up our lives in a real sense . My fees were paid by my teacher since I had no money at that time . Since then this is not just a college for me and being a part of this initiative came naturally .

Sandeep Soparkar said that this college has been an inspiration to do challenging things in life which have given me the courage to perform on global platform .

The MSIHMCT formerly known as the Food Craft Institute was established in the year 1969 at Nagpur and relocated to Pune in 1974. Consistent academic excellence has earned our institute an autonomous status in the year 1995.
