Ahmedabad, February 1 The city police on Friday booked five youth for kidnapping and robbing Belgian national Molen Berghs Mark, a day after arresting them for possessing the latter's passport.

The police said the five, Abdul Sheikh, Rafiq Sheikh (residents of Dariapur), Naseeruddin Sheikh (resident of Kalupur), Nasir Teli (resident of Vatva) and Yasin Mansuri (resident of Bapunagar) confessed to having committed the crime during interrogation by the Ishanpur police.

The accused had kidnapped Mark from outside the Kalupur Railway Station in an autorickshaw. They assaulted and robbed him of cash amounting to Rs 10,000 and his wallet near the Bombay Hotel in Narol.

The accused then fled from the place, police said. Investigating officer later traced Mark, who is presently staying in room number 103 at Prince hotel near Kalupur. The police are, however, yet to record his statement.

A team of Ishanpur police had stopped the accused on grounds of suspicion when they were passing by a busy crossroad in Narol in an auto rickshaw. While checking the vehicle, they found Mark's passport, his five credit cards and Rs 10,000. Police said, initially they tried to dupe the authorities but broke down during interrogation and confessed to the crime.
