Chandigarh To resolve the ongoing tussle between the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association and Justice Uma Nath Singh, a five-judge committee was constituted by Chief Justice Tirath Singh Thakur on Wednesday. The committee comprises Justice J S Khehar, Justice Ashutosh Mohunta, Justice Jasbir Singh, Justice S S Saron and Justice Surya Kant. According to reports, the proposal of leaving the issue to the Chief Justice, for taking a amicable decision by calling upon both parties (the Bar and the judge), will be put before the Full House on Thursday. President of the Bar, Rupinder S Khosla, said: “We will apprise the Full House about today’s meeting between the five-judge committee and the Executive of the High Court Bar.” Sources said the Executive reiterated its demand of transferring Justice Uma Nath Singh from the Punjab and Haryana High Court before the committee at the meet. The High Court Bar Association had decided to boycott the Court of Justice Uma Nath Singh on February 19 after advocate M K Tiwari had complained that the judge had insulted him in open court.
