Ten flights, though had to be cancelled early Wednesday morning due to operational reasons such as low passenger load and anticipation of early morning fog, airline sources said.
The runway visibility range (RVR) remained above 2,000 metres, which led to smooth movement of flights.
The early-morning flights cancelled were Jetlite flights to Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata via Port Blair and Lucknow, Jet Airway’s Delhi-Chennai, Delhi-Mumbai-Jaipur, Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Hyderabad. Indigo’s flight to Mumbai and Bangalore and GoAir’s flight to Mumbai were also cancelled.
Meanwhile, the space crunch on the airport is taking its toll — an Indian Airlines aircraft was damaged today after it hit a ladder of Jet Airways while docking into bay. Flight IC-133 had arrived from Bhopal. Experts say there’s a shortage of bays as the number of aircraft at the IGI goes up.
