Forget night, burglars striking in broad dayligh

Pune, February 1 In the city, burglars are striking not only during night-time, but also during broad-day light and with impunity. Four cases of house-breaking thefts were registered in the city on Thursday. Two apartments in Cosmos building in Magarpatta city, Hadapsar were broken into between 12.15 pm and 1.30 pm.

Asim Jakhar (29) has lodged a complaint that cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 3.09 lakh were stolen from his locked flat resident in "A" wing of Cosmos building. Also, valuabled at Rs 89,300 were stolen from flat number 603 in Cosmos D, owned by Keyur Bablubhai Dave (36). The burglars broke the lock with some hard metal, police said.

Similarly, burglars broke into the house of a businessman Sudhir Bindurao Adur (50) of Yeshwant Nagar, Pimpri, Hadapsar and decamped with valuables worth Rs 2.56 lakh. In another incident, cash and ornaments worth Rs 56,750 were stolen from the flat of Pushpa Jaywant Taru (42) of Samartha colony in Ganesh Nagar at Thergaon. The incident occurred between 1 pm and 2.45 pm when Pushpa had gone to the market. She lodged a complaint with the Hinjewadi police. Just two days back, six apartments from Nyati Apartment in Kharadi were broken into between 11 am and 2 pm.

On the same day, cash and ornaments of Rs 10 lakh were stolen from flat number B3/503 of Mont Vert Pristime society near Khadki railway station. Flat owner S. Subramanian (60) had lodged a complaint with Khadki police. The burglars had also stolen the passports of complainant and his wife. Police said the Subramanian and wife had gone to Mumbai for personal work. Around 12.30 pm of Tuesday, the flat was opened by their housemaid for cleaning. After an hour, the maid then locked the flat and gave the keys to a neighbour. However, two hours later, a courier boy found the lock broken and informed the security.
