Ahmedabad Former BJP legislator Bhupendra Khatri and his son Jwalant moved an anticipatory bail application before the Ahmedabad City Sessions Court on Monday.

The two are facing extortion charges in a complaint lodged by a Kalupur-based builder, Mitesh Joshi.

The application is scheduled for hearing on February 19.

Joshi has accused the Khatris of demanding Rs 50,000 for every project he takes up in Kalupur.

He also alleged that the two have threatened him with dire consequences if he does not comply with their demands.

Mitesh Amin, the advocate for the Khatris, said: “We have filed the anticipatory bail application and have contended that the complainant has lodged the complaint as the Khatris had informed the AMC officials about the illegal work being carried out by the builder. The matter is scheduled for hearing on February 19.”
