In a letter sent to the Chief Minister ahead of his meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on March 9, the body has expressed concern over failure of the successive governments to safeguard the interests of the state.
The Manch had earlier sent separate memorandums to the President of India and state Governor in 2002.
Making a fresh move, Mehar Singh Chauhan, a former MLA and convenor of the Manch, said the Chief Minister should immediately set up a committee to arrive at a broad consensus on issues which should be taken up with Punjab and the Centre for getting the state's rightful share in joint assets. "Right from its inception, Himachal Pradesh has not been given its due by the Centre despite full statehood," he wrote.
Chauhan wondered how the Centre had been doling out packages to states infested by Maoists and Naxalites, while Himachal, a peace-loving state, has been subjected to injustice and denial of its legitimate share. He pegged the total claim payable to the state at Rs 12,000 crore.
