Foundation stone laid for Punjabi University’s Jaito village campus

Patiala, February 6 The foundation stone of the new neighbourhood campus of Punjabi University, Patiala was laid at Jaito village by Shiromani Akali Dal president and Faridkot MP, Sukhbir Singh Badal. The new campus plans to launch classes for many academic courses like BCA, PGDCA and CCA etc from the upcoming academic session.

The Punjabi University vice-chancellor Jaspal Singh said that a number of new courses will also be started soon.

The V-C added that students from the Jaito sub-division will be given preference and reservation for admission to various courses.

Badal appreciated the effort of the Vice-Chancellor to extend the canvas of providing quality education to the rural areas.

The Jaito village panchayat had donated four acres of prime land for the regional centre. The village panchayats of six villages had donated 300 acres of land to the University for opening similar centres across the state.

The varsity has already started regional and neighbourhood campuses at Jhunir, Rampura Phul, Karandi, Sardulgarh, Joga Rallah, Delha Sihan and Talwandi Sabo villages.
