Mumbai, January 1 Four persons were injured in a clash between two groups at Kalher village in Bhiwandi on Tuesday. One of the victims, Roshan Patil, sustained a bullet injury and is said to be critical. All the four have been admitted to Criticare hospital in Thane.

According to the Narpoli police, the clash occurred between Sujit Madhukar Patil, the accused, and Rajendra Patil, the complainant, who had clashes on earlier occasions too.

Santosh Jadhav, the station officer, said that Rajendra, who was celebrating the New Year eve with his family and friends in the village, allegedly misbehaved with Rupesh Mhatre, Sujit’s accomplice who frequented the area.

Mhatre then informed Sujit about the incident, which lead to the clash between the two groups. Sujit along with his men attacked Rajendra and others present at the celebration with swords, sticks and a revolver, said Jadhav. Roshan Patil, Sujit’s relative, sustained a bullet injury during the clash.

Around six vehicles including a Scorpio were damaged when the two groups hurled bottles and peltted stones at each other.

The police have registered a case of attempt to murder, assault and rioting against 13 people from the village and are also on the lookout for 20 others in the case. No arrests have been made yet.
