New Delhi Rajghat pile-up: Six injured as Scorpio car loses control

Six persons were injured after a Scorpio car rammed two scooters, a Tata 407 and a Honda City car near Rajghat in the Central district on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred around 3 pm. In the pile-up of vehicles after the accident, a scooter was trapped between the Scorpio car and the Tata 407. The scooterist, Anwar, who had a miraculous escape, suffered minor injuries.

The injured, including the Scorpio driver, have been identified as, Ajay Sharma (driver), who suffered serious injuries, Vimla Kashyap, Sarita, Mange Ram, Om Prakash and Anwar. Most have been discharged from hospital after first aid.

The police said that they had registered a case against the Scorpio driver. “The front part of the Scorpio car was destroyed ,” a police officer said.

Blueline kills man in Janakpuri
A man died after being hit by a Blueline bus in Janakpuri area of West district on Monday. The bus was plying on route number 711, Janakpuri to Nizamuddin. Pawan, the victim, died on the spot and the driver has been arrested.

Scooterist killed by speeding Maruti car
In yet another accident, a scooterist was killed after being hit by a speeding Maruti car in Zafarpur Kalan area of South-west district on Sunday. The incident took place around 6.30 pm near the Kair village roundbaout. The deceased, has been identified as Dilavar Singh, 40. The driver fled while Dilavar died on the spot,” said the police.

Tempo rams bike, kills rider
A mini tempo rammed a bike claiming the rider’s life and injuring the woman pillion rider and her son. The incident was reported in Palam area around 4 pm on Monday.

The police said that Jitender, 28, with his sister Rajwanti, 36, and her son Amman, 13, were headed towards Dwarka when mini-tempo rammed their bike. Jitender died on the spot while Rajwanti and Amman are in hospital.

Biker killed
In another case, a 19-year-old biker, Awastin, was killed on the spot after his vehicle hit a DTC bus. The pillion-rider, who was injured in the accident, has been admitted to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital in a critical condition, police said.
