Four people killed, one injured in road accidents across city

New Delhi Four people were killed while one sustained critical injuries in five road accidents reported from the Capital in the last 24 hours.

In Seelampur, a 22-year-old bank employee was crushed by a speeding truck on Friday evening. The incident was reported around 11.30 pm near Eidgah on the main Seelampur road. “Pankaj Kumar was on his way home after attending a party when a speeding truck hit him from behind. He was severely injured and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries,” a police officer said. Driver Mehtab has been arrested and his truck has been seized.

In the second incident, 25-year-old Giriraj died when he was hit by an unknown vehicle in Mandawali, East Delhi. A resident of Mayur Vihar Phase I, Giriraj was walking home around 10 pm on Friday. The driver fled the spot.

In the third incident, Vikas (20) died while his uncle, Guddu (35), received critical injuries when a crane in which they were travelling overturned in the Alipur area of Outer Delhi on Friday. “The crane overturned near Palla Road in Alipur and Vikas was injured. He later died,” an officer said.

Vishal (30) was killed when his tractor turned turtle in Mukandpur Chowk in Swaroop Nagar, Northwest Delhi, around 9 am on Saturday.
