Ludhiana, February 1 Ludhiana police have managed to arrest four members of a robbers gang who had tried to loot a family by shooting at them in a broad daylight last week.

Police have also seized some weapons from the arrested persons. The arrested gang members have been identified as Amit Kumar, Satwant Singh, Joginder Pal and Sarwan Singh. They were arrested last evening from Chimney Road in Shimlapuri.

Police have seized one countrymade pistol along with one live and one used cartridge, a big knife and an iron rod from the arrested persons. Three more members of this gang are yet to be arrested.

Police had already recovered an Indica car allegedly used by them in this incident. This incident had happened on January 25 at about 10.30 am. Some armed robbers had entered the house of industrialist Harish Kumar in New Amar Nagar and had fired at two women who were present in the house that time.

These robbers also manhandled these women, Harpreet Kaur and her daughter-in-law Amarjit Kaur, snatched their gold jewellery, and tried to flee in their car. But a child Sooraj, who was playing in the street at that time, threw his bat on the car of the robbers and broke the back windowpane of the car.

A PCR team chased the car. The robbers were forced to leave the car and flee. SP Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill said police were trying to arrest the others gang members.
