Pune The France will double its bilateral trade with India and will promote joint venture partnership in agro, food, logistic and small-medium enterprises, said French Minister of State for External Trade Anne-Marie Idrac on Tuesday. He was talking to reporters while visiting L'Oréal plant in Chakan.

Idrac is here to attend the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit organised by The Energy and Resources Institute. She has come with a delegation of French companies (Multinationals and Small and Medium Enterprises) providing equipments and solutions in the field of renewable energy and sustainable development, one of the key priorities of the Indo-French Strategic Partnership.

She said that the French government is keen on helping Indian companies to set up their base in France. She visited L'Oréal's 'green' installations so as to see first-hand their performance and impact. These 'green' installations include a local vermiculture plant that converts chemical waste into eco- friendly biodegradable manure as well as its solar water heating system that substitutes fuel consumption.

She also visited Bharat Forge Ltd, which over the years has shared several business relationships with French companies and has very recently forged two new partnerships - joint venture with Alstom November last year for manufacturing supercritical turbine island power plant equipment, and an MoU with Areva in January, to produce heavy forgings and components for Nuclear reactors.

She was also accompanied by Jérôme Bonnafont, Ambassador of France in India and Nicolas Forissier and Claude Greff, members of parliament. The representatives of both Alstom and Areva were also present on the occasion.
