Kharar In a bizarre incident, a 10-year-old boy was set on fire by his three friends in Kharar on Saturday. Ricky is struggling for life with 50 per cent burn injuries at PGIMER in Chandigarh, Kharar City Station House Officer (SHO) Sub-Inspector Atul Soni told Newsline. Ricky’s father said he was playing with his friends, identified as Deepa, Ravi and Sunil, around 6.30 pm at Bangala Colony in Ward 1 when the incident occurred.

As part of their game, the four first dug up a small pit and filled it with husk before jumping across it. During his turn, Ricky fell into the pit. Instead of pulling him out, his three friends set the husk on fire before running away from the spot, Ricky’s father added. On hearing his screams, two local residents, identified as Manga and Sarwan, rushed to the spot and pulled Ricky out of the pit. He was rushed to a local clinic from where he was referred to the PGIMER. The SHO said the three children have been booked under Sections 336, 337, 338 and 34 of the IPC.
