Pune Higher Secondary candidates were frisked at random before entering the exam hall on Thursday, part of a slew of stringent steps on the first day of a copy-free exam campaign by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE). Other measures included more flying squads doing the rounds during exam hours and the imposition of Section 144 of the CrPC on sensitive centres.

“The school education department has ordered the board to take stern action against copying. As a precaution, examiners have been asked to frisk students suspected to be carrying copy material. Woman supervisors checked girl students,” said Vijaysheela Sardesai, chairman of MSBSHSE.
