Pune After Newsline last week highlighted how a 50 gunthas of land meant for a bus terminus in Bhosari in official documents suddenly became 78 gunthas, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Asheesh Sharma today said it was a "mistake" and land actually has been of 78 gunthas. "The 78 gunthas became 50 gunthas by mistake when it was transferred to PCMC from PCNTDA," he said.

Sharma however said the mistake was already rectified in 2003 and resolution passed in that year clearly mentions the land to be 78 gunthas. The Shiv Sena, which had raised the issue, however still maintains that the land is only 50 gunthas. "The reservation book and the official communication between PCMC and PCMT mention the land to be only 50 gunthas. Then how can it become 78 gunthas?" asked Sarang Kamthekar, deputy chief of Shiv Sena. The commissioner said the land was measured before the resolution was passed in 2003 and even now the administration has re-verified it. But Kamthekar said the reservation is only for 50 gunthas of land and not 78 gunthas.

"Even if the PCMC says the land is 78 gunthas, it has a problem on hand as only 50 gunthas are reserved for the bus terminus.

Now they can't jack up the land by adding nearby road space," he said.
