Pune Around one lakh students from the city will get their domicile and caste certificates in their respective schools from Monday.

District collector Chandrakant Dalvi handed over 97, 254 certificates and affidavits to the school principals and teachers on Friday which can be collected by the students in their respective schools.

According to Jyoti Kadam, special executive magistrate (city), “Considering the fact that we had issued about 2.3 lakh certificates by the end of last year, we have issued one-third of this number within the first three months of this year. It was a good exercise for us and we plan to continue it next year as well.”

The Citizen Facilitation Centre (CFC) of the district collectorate had decided to issue domicile and caste certificates to students in their respective schools as part of a special scheme. It was initially decided to issue the certificates from January 1 and the date was delayed by two months. However, students will not face any problems, as the certificates will be required only during their college admissions in June.

The collectorate officials has trained teachers from around 540 schools of the Maharashtra State Board, Central Board of Secondary Education and Indian School Certificate Examinations and 32 colleges for this purpose. The schools had collected application and requisite documents from the students that were scrutinised and verified by the collectorate.
