New Delhi The Central Bureau of Investigation was handed over the investigation of 19 cases of rape and murder in Nithari, in January 2007. The agency has been claiming ever since that Surinder Koli, Pandher's servant, was the lone killer. These 19 cases were registered on the basis of identification of body parts and clothes and scientific tests like DNA fingerprinting and skull superimposition.

The CBI is in the prosecution in 12 cases out of the 19. In the other cases handled by counsel Khalid Khan, Pandher and Koli are both accused of rape and murder.

Sixteen chargesheets have been filed so far and the CBI has given a clean chit to Pandher saying that he was not present in the house at the time of crime. He was charged under the Immoral Trafficking Act in one case.

Newsline takes a look at the 19 cases and their status
