The government will soon initiate the process of constructing a new building of the Rs 40-crore academic institute and creating all necessary infrastructure for it.

The university will come up on 20,000 sq metres of land allotted by the government near the existing FSL premises in the State Capital.

Vyas told Newsline that a meeting of the university’s Board of Governors would be held soon to decide, among other things, on engaging a private party for designing and constructing building for the educational institute. “We expect the new building with all necessary infrastructure to be ready in the next one year,” he added.

Vyas said though it would take about a year to complete the civil work on the new university, the government would start the academic activity in June this year from the existing FSL premises. Initially, two to three courses, including MSc in Forensic Sciences and Post Graduate Diploma in Forensic Psychology will be introduced in the first academic year. Meritorious BSc passed students will be eligible for admission.

When the new university building is ready, some other courses will be introduced in phases. The courses to be offered include M Phil in Behavioural Science and Forensic Psychology, PG Diploma in Cyber Crime and Network Security, Security Management and Forensic Science. Besides, the university will offer doctorate degrees in various subjects, and provide research and development facilities to prospective students in different areas of forensic sciences.
