Fun, frolic and farewell keep schools busy on Sunday

Chandigarh Annual day celebrated at Carmel Convent
The students and staff members of Carmel Convent celebrated the Annual Day for the pre-primary wing in the school auditorium on Sunday. Director Public Instruction (Schools) Samwartak Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. The celebrations were held as part of the golden jubilee year. The tiny tots put up a grand show that began with the symbolic lighting of the lamp. The young artists performed the folk dances of Gujarat, Kashmir and Punjab. Principal Sister Maria Christie said, “No matter how arduous life is or how difficult sustenance in this competitive world might be, we must never lose the child in us.”

Annual function for special kids held at Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27
An annual function of special cell was held at Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27, on Sunday. Nearly 50 students and their parents participated in recreational activities at the function that was held for the third time after the cell’s inception in 1984. It is one of the oldest schools for the mentally challenged children. A cultural programme was also organised by the children. Programme convenor Neelu Sareen said, “The main aim of the event was to allow parents’ interaction so that they can share their experiences and problems with their counterparts. Such events prove to be very therapeutic.” The event also gave an opportunity to parents to interact with their children and see for themselves the talent their wards possessed.

Farewell function at Stepping Stones

Students of Class XII of the Stepping Stones Senior Secondary School were given a farewell on Saturday. Jismanjeet and Milan were crowned with the title of Mr and Miss Personality while Richa Chopra and Dhruv Avtar Singh were declared as runners up. Principal Anu Kumar wished the outgoing class success in life.
